At Processplus, we take pride in supporting breweries across the UK with reliable service, maintenance, and expertise on Sigrist instruments. Recently, we carried out our first service visit at Camden Town Brewery’s Enfield laboratory, where their Sigrist LabScat 2 required overdue maintenance.

The Challenge
Camden Town Brewery had been using their LabScat 2 but were experiencing issues with limescale build-up, water flow, and drainage. Despite regular cleaning by the lab team, these problems persisted and were beginning to affect the instrument’s reliability.

Our Approach
As this was our first visit to the site, we carried out a full inspection and noted the instrument setup. We quickly identified that the water filter was heavily coated with limescale and that the system had not been configured correctly for optimal performance.

We worked closely with the team to:

• Replace the desiccant bag and water filter.
• Clean the measuring windows and drain, fitting a larger hose to improve water flow.
• Adjust the setup to ensure proper, constant water flow regulated by the instrument’s built-in functions.
• Calibrate the instrument, during which we discovered a fault with the self-centring cage. Fortunately, we were able to repair this fault without needing replacement parts.

Following the service, Camden Town Brewery now has a fully functioning and calibrated LabScat 2, supported by guidance on future maintenance requirements and training for lab staff to ensure best practice use.
