At Processplus, we take pride in delivering smart engineering solutions that enhance operational efficiency and give our clients greater control over their processes. One of our recent projects at a Wastewater Treatment Works perfectly illustrates this.

The Challenge

A Utilities company were facing a growing challenge, having limited visibility and control over the waste being discharged into the works. Without any reliable data, they were unable to determine the origin, volume, or density of incoming waste. This lack of transparency made it difficult to ensure compliance with process criteria, let alone accurately charge for treatment.

The Solution

Processplus proposed a tried-and-tested answer: a sludge logging system built around GX Environmental’s industry-leading technology. With a proven track record for enabling real-time monitoring of tanker waste deliveries. From cesspits, septic tanks, and industrial waste to wastewater sludge, the GX system was the ideal choice.

We integrated the system with GX’s powerful Tidon software, offering the client the ability to track waste characteristics and tanker movements from loading through to discharge. The system enables site operators to monitor not just the volume of the sludge being delivered, but also its density and chemical composition. A key factor in ensuring it meets processing requirements.

Delivering the Project

Before installation could begin, we identified the need for a solid and reliable foundation to support the new system. To address this, we collaborated with civil engineering specialists I.H. Borland, who provided a robust concrete base on which to mount the equipment.

Once groundwork was complete, our team installed the full suite of components, including:

  • GX QL800 logger – the heart of the data acquisition system
  • Siemens Magflo 5100 flow sensor and MAG6000 transmitter – for precise flow measurement
  • Rotork actuator and knife gate valve – for controlled waste flow
  • Hach Highline Insertion Solitax probe with SC45000 electronics – to accurately monitor sludge density

Each component was expertly integrated to form a cohesive system, delivering reliable, real-time data directly to the Tidon software platform.

The Result

Thanks to Processplus’ end-to-end delivery, the client now benefits from complete visibility over every waste delivery to the Girvan site. Operators can track:

  • The source and delivery company of each tanker
  • The volume and density of the waste
  • Whether the load meets predefined process criteria

This powerful level of control not only ensures compliance and efficiency but also opens new opportunities for accurate billing based on the actual waste composition.

A Future-Proof Investment

At Processplus, we believe in delivering solutions that don’t just fix today’s problems, they future-proof operations. The installation at this Wastewater Treatment Works showcases how the right blend of engineering, innovation, and partnership can transform how wastewater is managed.

Whether it’s sludge, data, or everything in between, Processplus has it covered.
