Weighing & Batching

We offer a wide range of products and systems for weighing and batching to meet your specific needs.

Dynamic Weighing

Dynamic weighing is performed on moving conveyor belts using belt scales and belt speed sensors. These devices can be retrofitted to existing conveyor systems. When integrated with electronic controllers, they provide accurate measurements of mass flow rate and total flow rate along the belt.

Applications for Dynamic Weighing Include:

  • Measuring solids mass flow in quarrying and mining industries
  • Monitoring solid fuel supply on conveyor feeds to furnaces in the cement manufacturing process
  • Measuring product mass on conveyor belts in the life sciences industry

Static Weighing

Static weighing involves the installation of load cells at the base of silos, tanks, or process vessels. This enables precise monitoring of the mass of materials contained within a stationary vessel. Static weighing systems also help prevent overfilling, improving safety and efficiency.

Applications for Static Weighing:

  • Monitoring mass in process and storage vessels in the water and waste, chemical, brewing and distilling, utilities, and life sciences industries

Communications Options for Weighing Systems Include:

  • 4–20 mA analogue outputs
  • HART for advanced diagnostics and configuration
  • ProfiBUS PA, ProfiNET, and MODBUS for digital communication

Approvals for Weighing Systems Include:

  • ATEX certification for safe operation in hazardous environments
  • OIML and MID compliance for trade-approved weighing

Batching

Batching within process instrumentation involves combining and processing specific quantities of materials in a controlled, systematic manner. It is widely used in industries where precision and consistency are essential, such as chemical manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and food production.

Applications for Batching

Batching systems ensure accurate measurement and mixing of raw materials to maintain product quality and consistency. Key benefits include:

  • Monitoring and controlling variables like temperature, pressure, and time to optimise outcomes
  • Reducing human error and improving efficiency through automated batching control systems
  • Achieving repeatability in manufacturing processes

Communications Options for Batching Systems Include:

  • 4–20 mA analogue outputs
  • HART, MODBUS, ProfiBUS PA, and ProfiNET for remote configuration and diagnostics

Approvals for Batching Systems Include:

  • ATEX certification for hazardous environments
  • FDA compliance for applications in the food and pharmaceutical sectors
  • SIL certification for safety-critical processes
